Questions
to think about when choosing assisted living:
Choosing assisted living is one of the most important
decisions seniors and their families will ever make. Selecting
a facility means choosing a home and the people that will help
to maintain a full
and independent lifestyle. Following are some of the more common
questions related to assisted living. Of course, there are many
that
are not listed here - please feel free to contact
me anytime with any questions or concerns you may have.
What is an assisted living facility?
An assisted living facility / adult home is for someone
that cannot or does not want to live alone anymore. The reasons
for
looking
into assisted living vary from person to person and may include
loneliness, isolation, or the inability to perform some
of the Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). Assisted living
facilities and their staff are able to help with these
problems by offering an array of
social, mental and spiritual activities while providing assistance
with ADL's such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication
management.
Assisted living is an affordable and
much more stimulating alternative to a nursing home provided complex
medical care is not a requirement. The cost of assisted living
varies according to the styles and amenities offered.
