I could not disagree more.
"Adult Homes" are licensed by the State.
The state regulates the operations of these homes, so they
must follow the State's strict guidelines. They are inspected by
the Department of Health yearly and must address any problems that
the State
dictates. "Assisted Living" is a term given to facilities striving
to get away from the "Adult Home" stigma. Assisted
living facilities
are not licensed by the state. Unfortunately, adult homes
can tend to be thought of as small, unpleasant places
catering to the psychiatric population. While this may be true
in some cases, there are many lovely facilities both large
and small that are
licensed Adult Homes which I would feel very comfortable having
my mom or dad live in. There are
also many
of the
so-called Assisted
Lliving facilities that I would not feel so comfortable with.
Any
adult home that is kind, caring and clean is one that I am proud
to work
with.
